First Love

"I bet it was great, wasn't it?" the Ferris wheel operator says as he opens the door of our car with a smile.

"Yes it was, thanks," I say, unable to stop from giggling a little as Anna and I step out of the car. "Good night."

"Good night to you two, too," he says, seeming very happy, and something about it makes me think that he knows.

Anna and I walk in silence through the crowd that is working their way towards any of the shops that sell food. "Do you want to eat here, or get something to take back?" Anna asks me.

"Oh, let's get something to take back. If that's okay with you?"

"It would be great. I think I have been sitting in a truck too long, my feet are really tired... But, I am now kind of awake otherwise," she says with a smile, and takes my hand in hers as we walk. It doesn't take as long as I thought it might to walk out of the park, and even though it is dark. The city sidewalks and streets are so well lit you would never know it was night.

"How about Italian?" I ask as we approach an Italian restaurant.

"Do they do takeout?" I point at the takeout sign in the window. "Oh, guess they do," she says with a laugh, and then kisses me. My cheeks instantly turn warm. Anna smiles and laughs. "That little kiss makes you blush?"

"I didn't mean to. It... It's just different here," I say as some people walk past.

"You're right, it is. But it makes you look so cute," she says. Smiling, as I am pretty sure I blush more. "Come on, let's order some dinner," she says, holding the door open for me.

We decide on lasagna and bread, and the person at the counter says it will be five or ten minutes. Part of me is surprised it's not going to be a longer wait, given how many people are in the restaurant. We sit down on a bench just outside the door to wait, and my phone gives a ding. I pull it out, knowing that it is Alesha.

Alesha: OMG, I wish I was there.

"Alesha is jealous," I say, not looking up from my phone. "I mean, of the view, in the video," I add quickly.

"I knew that's what you were talking about," Anna says. "Evy's the same. Though, they said it isn't worth putting up with Magical Land for it."

"Evy really doesn't like that place, does sh—they?"

"Nope, they say it is nothing but misogynistic propaganda for gender role enforcement."

"Isn't that a little much? I mean, there are quite a few characters in their movies that are gay," I say.

"I am astonished that you even know that," she says, looking surprised. "Did your church's had a 'burn the children's movie night' or something?"

"Haha, really funny. My church never did that... probably because they didn't know about the characters," I say, as Anna starts laughing hard. "Because there were members that definitely would have done that.
